So, if no one told you, life was going to be this way, then I don’t know what to tell you. Ups and downs, rights and wrongs, pros and cons…

As each coin has its two sides, there are always at least two sides to each story. People are always divided to the lovers of olives or haters of olives, avocado lovers or non-lovers, Game of Thrones fans and people who never watched it. See, it is that easy, two sides.

So, what I realized is that people who do love one side of the coin always try to allure others to their side of the coin. I never “okay” this. A typical Game of Thrones fan would always get excited and have a fire on the eyes while talking about GoT (fans never say Game of Thrones, they shorten it, I am stating the obvious). They would trigger you just to start watching the first episode, and after that bump! You say GoT automatically. And you always & fully intend to watch it later, but later never comes. (A moment to make fun of this).

Well, pues, the point that I’ve just made above is an acceptable dosage of getting the other people to like what you like. I am doing the same, every time I get a chance to see any human being, all I talk is “Friends”. The unhealthy dosage happens when things get bigger. People do love talking, making comments, sharing their opinions on matters where they are not even asked of . It is not acceptable when someone actually tries changing what you like or at least explaining why your side of the stick does not make any sense.

What I don’t understand is that people don’t get calm down if others do not hold the same opinion or same tastes with them. At least, they try to dig more the reasons of you being so. Well, I am who I am. Let the small things go, human! They always question why you prefer something. This question is the same as if you ask any dog why they like bones. You can keep asking that, but the answer wont stop being true or making sense.

Well, you are under no pressure, if you don’t get how people can automatically move their body the second they hear regueton. It is your nature, maybe you are the person of 30 seconds to Mars. I hate you, I love you, regueton. Just because, some people don’t understand why you don’t like something particular, does not make it wrong. No one, not any single person does not have to feel obliged to accept the ordinary or do/follow the common stuff that everybody is doing at the moment. You have your own way of thinking, acting and repeating all the same again or not.

Let’s appreciate the diversity, the small details of each and every person that make them unique in their own way. It is not fun at all when what you see everywhere is the same as it is nowadays. Any trend comes up, there are always first grabbers, then followers, then late followers, and taa-daa, we all look like the same year edition of whatever that trend was. But, God forbid, when you see a person far away from all of this “trend” nonsense, and you start questioning, targeting that particular person just because she or he is different.

You have only yourself to blame, if you hold some doubts on your preferences just because someone made you feel so. Like most things, your experience really depends on what you make of each criticism and the way you response, adelante, venga! Just because, you have never watched any Harry Potter movie, it does not make you any less compatible with your generation or in your friend zone. You don’t have to watch a top IMDB rated movie even though you feel like you are not the person of this movie type.

Hopefully, the next time you see somebody expressing themselves in the best way possible, be it externally or internally or both, you can be amazed by how dissimilar you are. But this is what makes us discover more people around us.

  1. So true. Why should I watch GoT? You can share your takeouts instead and I can do the same of different topic. Then mutual exchange of thoughts could force our brains exercise more. Thanks for article
